ABPANC President’s Award 2022

The recipient of the 2022 President’s Award is Vonda Fitch, RN, CPAN, CAPA of Carlsbad Medical Center in New Mexico.
ABPANC created this award in 2019 to recognize a CPAN or CAPA nurse who best represents the values of perianesthesia nursing certification; a nurse who demonstrates extraordinary commitment and passion to perianesthesia nursing certification should be recognized and celebrated.

Vonda has been serving as an ABPANC volunteer for the better part of two decades. She is an expert item writer and true leader in our exam development program. When ABPANC faced a shortage of subject matter experts to finish the CPAN exam form in 2021, Vonda rose to the occasion once again, single-handedly devoting her free time to ensuring ABPANC’s exceptional exam standards had been met.

Our testing vendor sent an email to Vonda before the final exam review meeting observing: “I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all the referencing you did during the online review! You did so much work, and it will make our exam review meetings go that much more smoothly. Your work did not go unnoticed.”

This is yet another testament to Vonda’s work ethic and dedication to ABPANC.

Vonda is dual-certified, receiving her CPAN certification in 1988 and her CAPA certification in 1994. She is a charge nurse/assistant nurse manager in the PACU/Same Day Surgery Unit at the Carlsbad Medical Center in New Mexico.
